Let The Games Begin!!!

Welcome to Everything Scrappn's blog challenges and contest. As Design Team Coordinator I am happy to show you the prize pack that our sponsor My Mind's Eye so generously donated. In this MME Dreamy 2 Mega Prize Pack you will get the 30 pages of high quality double-sided patterned paper and over 90 accessory items including die-cuts, tags, journaling tags, title tags, flowers, frames and more.

So how do you win this? It's easy. There will be six challenges in April, mine will be first. You will have until April 30 to finish and submit your completed challenges. For every challenge you complete and leave a link in the comments section for tht particular challenge where we can see it, you will get your name put in for the drawing. Also, and this is very important, every challenge you must use MME new Penny Lane, Bella Bella, or Bloom & Grow. If you don't have any you can take a look in the store, all the brand new lines are there and they are wonderful. Which brings me to another way to get your named put in the drawing, for every $25 you spend in the store your name will be put in for the prize. That is at least seven different ways you can get your name added and that means more chances for you to win this awesome prize pack.

And now for the first challenge: Denise's Texture Challenge

I want you to make a layout, single or double page, and use texture on your page. Some examples for adding texture to your pages are distressing paper edge, ribbon/lace, buttons, make your own flowers from paper, use paint, add bling, use fabric, etc....
The Rules:
1) You must use My Mind's Eye papers & accessories, your choice of any from the new MME lines - Penny Lane, Bloom & Grow or Bella Bella. You can find all of these in the store.
2) I want to see at least 3 different textures on your layout.
3) You have until April 30 to post a comment here, post a link in your comments where we can see your layout.

It's that easy!

Here is my example:

The textures I used was to rough up the edges and ink a little, I layered Prima flowers and added buttons, used pop dots to raise the cut out and used paper doilies for that peak of something extra.

Products used: MME Grow "Falling Leaves" , MME Bloom "Bijou Birds" , MME Penny Lane Maggie May "Chloe Lynn" , Bazzill cardstock, MME Feeling Groovy "Uniquely You" Love accessory, MME Penny Lane Free Bird "Live Out Loud" Title, Prima flowers, Autumn Leaves Foliage buttons, paper doilies, ColorBox Creamy Brown inkpad, 3-d Dots.

Jenni Bowlin WINNER

Oh I'm getting so frustrated with this coding. I sent it through photobucket and it won't let me add the words I need to the post, but the image show up fine before I try to edit it, so that is why the slide show is in one post and the words another!

OK Venting is done. The winner of the Lucky Contest is Marcie. Congratulations. Thanks you for participating in this contest.

*If anyone is interested in how I choose my contest winners - I place name of those entered on a slip of paper and put them in a bowl. I then let one of my children draw a name and they are the winner.*

Lastly I wanted to give a plug to a contest that will be coming up soon. My design team was given a ton of product so that they could come out of the gate with a big contest. I will tell you that you will need some of the new My Mind's Eye product. Penny Lane, Bella Bella, or Bloom & Grow. The reason I'm telling you this is it is 15% off till Wed at Mid night Eastern time and right now you can get free shipping on orders of $30 and above with code spring at check out.

Have a good one!

Design Team Announcement

I want to thank everyone who sent in an application. There were so many to look through and with all the great talent it was such a tough choice.

Here are the 6 great girls that will be designing:
Denise Martinez
MJ or Michelle Jacquemet
Zoa Baker
Suz Gray
Janaina Oliveira
Teresa Matz

I can't wait for them to get started in April!

I want to Introduce you to the Design Team Coordinator - Denise Martinez. She is a local here close to the store. She has encouraged me and helped me take the steps I need to take to keep growing. I believe that she is going to be a great coordinator and be a huge help to me in the days to come. She will decide how and when you get the surveys of everyone else!

1) How long have you been scrapbooking?
I've been scrapping for just over 2 years.

2)Are you married? Any children? Pets?
Hubby and I have been married for 20 years, we were never blessed with children but have been blessed with many fur- babies over the years. Currently we have 3 kitties that get scrapped a lot.

3) Do you have a scrap style?
I don't really follow any styles, when I sit to scrap I do whatever comes to me at the time.

4) Do you have a particular scrap designer that "inspires" you?
There are a lot of scrapbookers that I admire and scraplift from, but no one individual.

5) Give us some randomness about you!
I've been told that I'm a collector of scrapbooking supplies, I guess
after organizing my stuff I'd have to agree. I have been making myself use
products that I had been saving for that 'special' layout, but I have to
keep reminding myself they are all special. I'm just like everyone else who
scrapbooks, obsessed and relieved that I finally found this wonderful activity.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day

I don't know why but I have always loved St. Patrick's Day. Maybe it is the challenge to find something green or the fun of pinching the one who doesn't. Could be the leprechauns who can resist them? Well anyway hope everyone put on their green this morning.

REMINDER: The contest was extended till the 21st so scrap those lucky bingo cards!

Get your green on,
Heather

PS DT to be announced by Friday. The coordinator will be introduced herself soon.

Thanks to all those who ordered in Feb! The winner of the Free Shipping for a year is Sarah B. Congratulations!

Snow and Daisy Buckets Designs

Great intentions don't always breed great results. I had every intention of finishing a project after church, blogging here to my great customers, working on the March Newsletter and getting some financial work done. Well it snowed!

Down here in Middle GA it only snows every 8 years or so. My son was a little baby (not walking) last time we had any snow. So needless to say we've been playing in the snow and taking pictures and video. Super fun for the kids at least, personally I HATE the cold.

Ok so I did at least get the project finished! Thats good right : )
Materials Used:
Jumbo Scalllop Banner
My Little Monster
Paper Ribbon
Core'dinations
Orange Peel Stickles
Orange with Aqua Dots Lime with Aqua Dots

This line was great fun on this project. Since it is double sided I was able to use lots of different patterns and had plenty of choices. I made this banner for my Son's bedroom door. If you look at the image of the chipboard in the store and then at what I've done with it you will notice that I did not use it wide, I used it tall. I measured 4" on one of the scalloped ends and cut it with my paper trimmer. My paper trimmer only cut half way through (which I wanted) and I folded on that cut. I sanded the fold so that no large chunks were standing up.

I placed my papers just like I was making a layout, I did use a liquid adhesive on this project to insure that it stuck and the ends didn't get curled up. Now something new I was able to work with is the Paper Ribbon by Daisy Buckets Designs. It was a lot of fun. It was so easy to tear and curl. Since it was my son's sign I didn't want to curl each piece of the ribbon but I did curl a few to show what you can do.

In the spirit of Facebook & Myspace I made him some "Status" cards. To make the place for the status I just used a piece of Core'dinations sanded the edges to give just a hint of aqua and added clear photo corners. I will put him a pocket on the back to store them in but didn't take a picture since it won't be "pretty"

I also used the Core'dinations in the cricket for the lettering Cade's Pad. I took a close up of pad to show the look I got when I took my exacto knife and scraped the black of in just a few spots I wanted to highlight a different color.

Lastly, I used my cropadile and punched holes in the top corners to run ribbon through. I chose 2 coordinating ribbons and twisted them. To see the ribbons I chose click the following links: Orange with Aqua Dots Lime with Aqua Dots

Scrapbooking Recipes

With the holidays coming so fast we need more hours in our day. One way I've found to help is quick and easy meals. Here is one that I love to use when I have a full day.

Lazy Log Cabin Casserole:

1lb stew meat cubed
1 can of Cream of Celery
1 can of Cram of Mushroom
1 packet of Beef Onion Soup (I don't use this. I just add salt, pepper, garlic powder and dried minced onions but I'm an eye ball cook)
Toss all this in the crock pot together give it a stir put it on low and cook it for 6 - 8 hours. Home cooked meal with just a few moments prep. Put a salad bag with it and your hubby can't be upset that there isn't a home cooked meal on the table.

Do you have a quick recipe? email me hgturner@everythingscrappn.com
