June Monthly Challenge

Wow I can't believe it's almost 4th of July weekend.  Summer is flying by.

This months challenge is inspired by Independence Day but with a twist.... Create a project using Red, White & Blue and maybe throw in some stars for good measure but the catch is it can't be a patriotic layout.

I've always been drawn to stars for layouts about my sons & those colors are perfect for a more masculine layout... so here is my take on the challenge to inspire you.

I used the Pink Paislee Starlight line which is in stock in the ES store.

The winner will receive the complete Pink Paislee Starlight line of papers (shown above) and a bottle of the coveted Tattered Angels Marshmallow Glimmer Mist (there was even a petition to make this limited edition color an everyday color it's so popular)... it is a well used color in my creative stash.

So create a project & post a link to your creation to this thread by 11:59 PM EST on Sunday July 11th.  Winner will be drawn by random number generator from all entries.

Before I send you over to see the rest of the designers work.... there are lots of yummy colors of Glimmer Mist in the ES store (even the beautiful Heidi Swapp colors).  Shop here.

Now head over to Teresa's Blog & My Blog to see our projects & leave us a little love to put a smile on our faces today.

Have a great day & do something creative.

May Monthly Challenge

The May Challenge is called Mix & Match Scraps.  All entries will have a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the ES store so you can snag some of the new products that are just flying out the door.  You have until midnight EST on Sunday, June 13th to enter.  Post a link to your creation back to this thread for your chance to with the GC.

We're challenging you to use your scraps (we know you have a ton)  in ways that make them fresh & not boring.  How you do that is up to you....  It can be making embellishments, mixing the old with the new, a design that is on trend, etc.

Here's my take on the challenge using some of the scraps from My Mind's Eye Grow line mixed with other papers that coordinated.

I had a small piece of a KI Sheer left so I cut out the shape & used it in place of a flower.

The geometric pattern wasn't too feminine (since layout was about my dad flowers wouldn't have been right) the sheers worked perfectly.  I adhered them with Diamond Glaze adhesive.

They seemed kind of flat so I added a Prima - Pebble.  Since I only had 1 left I had to brainstorm what to use on the other 2.... brads, buttons... no.... how about Tim Holtz Fragments... perfect.  I didn't even need to adhere patterned paper to the frag as I usually do because the sheer pattern coming thru was decorative enough.

I know you want to see what Teresa did with the challenge so head on over to her blog.  My other project is created with the new Echo Park Paper - Sweet Summertime line which is THE HOT product out there right now.  See my blog for photos & design details.

March DT Challenge

Hi everyone :) its my turn to host the monthly contest here at Everything Scrappn....

I am so excited to see Spring ring forth. I can't wait for sunny days, flowers, and gentle spring rains. This month's challenge is all about the coming Spring. You can create a layout or an altered piece.

First, I want to see flowers, at least 3, but not plain or simple flowers. You can either create your own flowers (from fabric, paper, felt, etc. whatever you wish) or if you chose to use a Prima type flower, you need to alter it somehow to make it uniquely yours.

Second, I want to see the color blue on your project. Something blue that will remind us of Spring rains that nourish the soil.

Last, you will need something yellow or gold to represent the warm Spring sunshine on your project.

I can't wait to see what you create and hopefully Spring will join us all soon!"

Many of the Design Team Members will be showcasing Webster's Pages products in their sample creations for the March 28th contest. You can view the stock of Webster's Pages that Everything Scrappn' has to offer by clicking here. Participate in the challenge for a chance to win a Prima Artistry Flowers Mini Tin. This tin is filled with around 25 Prima flowers in different sizes.

Here's my example for you called "flower child" I made two rolled paper flowers and I altered two white prima flowers with stamps, stazon and glimmer mist.
For my 2nd project this month I created easter baskets out of the Basic Grey Nook & Pantry line. I also used a few of the "woolies" flowers from the line

Don't forget to "hop" around to all of the DT blogs

Thanks so much for stopping by, and don't forget to link up your work here in the comments by midnight Sunday, April 11th for your chance to win the flowers :)

Scrapbooking Recipes

With the holidays coming so fast we need more hours in our day. One way I've found to help is quick and easy meals. Here is one that I love to use when I have a full day.

Lazy Log Cabin Casserole:

1lb stew meat cubed
1 can of Cream of Celery
1 can of Cram of Mushroom
1 packet of Beef Onion Soup (I don't use this. I just add salt, pepper, garlic powder and dried minced onions but I'm an eye ball cook)
Toss all this in the crock pot together give it a stir put it on low and cook it for 6 - 8 hours. Home cooked meal with just a few moments prep. Put a salad bag with it and your hubby can't be upset that there isn't a home cooked meal on the table.
