Happy Halloween

It is a little dreary hear but should clear up in time for all the ghost and goblins to come out and play. Don't forget those camera's tonight as you take your little ones out to trick or treat or to a local fall festival. Don't have little ones? Going to a party - take pictures of that too!

Well I also wanted to remind you that tomorrow officially starts the photo a day challenge! Tell all your friends and link it on your blog, spread the word with a tweet or facebook. If you tell me how you shared it you just never know you could get free goodies.

Get those camera's ready, put those thinking caps on. See through the lens of your camera.

Blinged Out Sketch Challenge

Today is challenge time over at the Everything Scrapp'n Store Blog.  This month it's a sketch challenge.  We're using this Pagemaps sketch.

So here are the rules:

Take inspiration from the sketch it doesn't have to be an exact copy of the sketch.  You can take creative liberties any way you feel inclined... the only thing you have to have on the layout is BLING of some sort.  It can be gems, pearls, jewels, etc.  Let's see what you've got in your stash.  If you need to buy some we have perfect products to fit every need in the Everything Scrapp'n store.  Here's a link to that department so you can shop.

Make a comment with a link your creation on THIS POST by 11:59 EST on Sunday, November 8th, 2009.  Each layout you create & post link to will receive one entry so get busy & get creative.  We can't wait to see what you do with the sketch.

To see what our design team has done with it visit:

Here's the prize - A super cute cardmaking kit - the colors are perfect for fall (that could easily be used for scrapbooking too).
Contents: Six 6x6 sheets of coordinating Sassafras Lass & Heidi Swapp patterned papers, Two Sassafras Lass 6' scalloped borders, Copper Stickles, and some yummy Prima flowers

Have you signed up to receive our monthly newsletter?  If not head on over here.  November is packed & you'll want to keep up to date.

Finally did you see the November challenge that Heather posted a couple days ago?   It's a big one with big prizes to go with it.  Check out the details here.  Are you up for it?  I think I am going to give it a shot!

November Challenge

I have actually had a chance to scrap a little here lately. One of the projects I jump to when I get stuck or want something a little more simple I work on my photo a day album. Now this album is from 2007 but I think that makes me realize how glad I am I did the photo a day challenge. There are things I took pictures of in 2007 that I would never have photographed and now we don't have anymore.

Here is the challenge:

* Take at least One photograph every day of the month of November.
* Your pictures can not be of your kids or pets every day. For this challenge lets limit it to one of each for the month. (if you have lots of kids don't take one of each of them for a day to clear out a week - think outside that box)
* Try to scrap these picture at least each week. Make an album of it (mini or store bought are great). For the contest there has to be at least a page per week containing all that weeks pictures.

Off to the side are some of the pages I've made recently that made me so glad I did the photo a day.
Photo 1 - This is of a blanket. I no longer have this great blanket. It had to be retired due to age and large dogs.
Photo 2 - My new sewing machine (in 07) that had just been taken out of the box and placed in my scrap area
Photo 3 - My scraproom in 2007. I love looking at the changes my creative area has made over the years. I think I'm going to do a mini album of just it!
Photo 4 - This is a photo of all the clothes I bought myself (yes just myself) on a shopping spree with my best friend. It is cool to be able to look at which pieces I still have etc.
Photo 5 - Walking Shoes - I found the perfect pair of walking shoes and of course we all have to toss shoes after a few years.
Photo 6 - iPod - Well I still have it and it looks the same but it won't be long and iPods will be a thing of the past and our kids will look at it and say that looks wierd : )
Photo 7 - This photo is of an envelope of scrap goodies I got in the mail from a swap I was in.

Here is a link to the set of photo's I just uploaded to flicker to give you some ideas and inspirations. Now some of these came from different challenges where there was theme each day or more pet photography was allowed but maybe this will help those creative juices.

Examples in Flickr

Non photographed examples:
Grandma's hands making Thanksgiving dinner. All your childrens hands in the cookie jar. Generational portrait at thanksgiving dinner etc.. Please have fun and be inspired.

$10.00 to one luck winner who takes a picture a day and links to where I can see them.
$25.00 to one luck winner who takes a picture a day and scraps them. For this one you have till December 6th.

Guest Designer

WOW - Thanks for all the great entries for the Guest Design Team spot. It was such a hard choice. Suz and I deliberated over the entries and we narrowed the choice down to just a few and that is where it got very hard. I really wish that I could choose everyone but that is just not possible.

The final choice came to one that kept pulling my eye in. She uses layer and colors and textures to keep you interested. She can rock out single picture layout, multi picture layouts, two page spreads and cards! I have had the pleasure of scrapping with her and having her help me with my work. Please welcome Kimberly Mace to the Design Team for the month of November.

Kimberly Mace! will be the guest designer for November at Everything Scrapp'n. I hope you will enjoy her work as much as I do.

Blog Hop WINNER!

I'm always looking for a way to pull winners.

As I'm not fond of my kids pictures being out on open internet sites and my inability to make those computer generated things work, I asked my husband to pull a name.

Well being a husband he said - "I'd rather not, let Tyro do it." So he tossed all the entries down on the floor and Tyro pulled - Carmen O! Congratulations!!! The winner was pulled from Tersa's Blog.
Please email me at hgturner@everythingscrappn.com with your mailing address by October 19th so I can get your prize out to you!

Make sure that you come back on the 28th for a challenge with a chance for a prize!

Early Bird

This weekend I went away on a scrapbooking retreat. It was my first one ever. I had the best time at Camp Crop Alot. I was at the Americus location.

Some girls from my local scrapbooking group put this trip together and I was fortunate enough to have been invited. I was so excited that I was able to get 5 12 x 12 layouts, 2 8.5 x 11 and 2 6 x 12's done. It's a great reminder of why I do what I do.

When I went I had planned on working with Round & Round by My Minds Eye but forgot to take it with me. So I worked with Early Bird instead.

This layout is of Elvis's birth home. I used bazzil craft, Early Bird Borders, Stickles Red, Turquoise, and Yellow.

This is a two page layout I did of the kitchen. Again using Early Bird Borders,

Early Bird Ready Set Chip,

Early Bird Brunch

Early Bird Farmers Market

Happy World Cardmaking Day!

Saturday, October 3rd is World Cardmaking Day. Some of the Everything Scrapp'n Design Team thought we would inspire you & show you some of the stamping products in the store.

Teresa made a great set of cards using the 4x4 pack of Jenni Bowlin Paper. The print on these pads is a smaller version of the original making it perfect for card making.

Front Porch Mini Paper Pack

Jana is showcasing some of the new acrylic stamp sets in the store.

Pink Paislee Amber Road Impressions Stamp set contains 7 separate images making it perfect for scrapbooking or card making. I love the vintage look. You can't beat the price either - the entire set is $4.99!

The papers she chose are by Little Yellow Bicycle.

The sentiment tag is Pink Paislee - look at all you get for @2.49.

Prima has some great acrylic stamp sets. For less than $2 you get a row of bling too. At that price you can buy 2 of each one for you & the other set to have on hand for a quick inexpensive gift for a fellow stamper. (the photos of the stamps are linked to the store)

The Hambly overlay looks fantastic against the kraft paper. Vintage Patchwork offers 4 different prints for one low price. They are also perfect for inexpensive acrylic mini albums. This one is on sale for $0.38!

Last but not least I (Suz) made several cards.

My first card I used the Pink Paislee Amber Road stamp set along with the matching paper scraps from all the layouts I've been doing using it.

Nikki Sivils papers are filled with whimsy.

Who says inexpensive cards have to lack pizazz... I used the front & back of this paper, a simple sentiment stamp & some stitching.

This is another line by Nikki that is just adorable. Henry's Brilliance 6x6 pad would make the cutest children birthday cards.

Finally I thought I would show you a sneak peak of the Pink Paislee Christmas paper that will be coming in stock very soon. It is my favorite Christmas line from CHA summer. This gift card holder was a make & take in the manufacturers booth.

Thanks so much for letting us inspire you.

I encourage you to make a card for our soldiers on active duty to send back home to their loved ones. Check out Operation Write Home for more details. It's a wonderful organization & really makes me feel like I'm doing something to support the troops in my little way with my love of card making.

Finally I wanted to remind you of the November Guest Designer spot. See the October Newsletter post for more details 10/2/2009 (it's toward the bottom). I can't wait to see the talented layouts/cards that come in!

Have a great time creating this weekend. Post a comment to links to your creations so we can see your work.

Scrapbooking Recipes

With the holidays coming so fast we need more hours in our day. One way I've found to help is quick and easy meals. Here is one that I love to use when I have a full day.

Lazy Log Cabin Casserole:

1lb stew meat cubed
1 can of Cream of Celery
1 can of Cram of Mushroom
1 packet of Beef Onion Soup (I don't use this. I just add salt, pepper, garlic powder and dried minced onions but I'm an eye ball cook)
Toss all this in the crock pot together give it a stir put it on low and cook it for 6 - 8 hours. Home cooked meal with just a few moments prep. Put a salad bag with it and your hubby can't be upset that there isn't a home cooked meal on the table.

Do you have a quick recipe? email me hgturner@everythingscrappn.com
