Spring Fever Tip

Spring is here in Middle Georgia where I live (you could call it summer till night fall). I'm not saying this to make you jealous if you live in an area where the weather has not gotten nice yet. I'm saying this to remind us all that the time of year is coming where it is hard to find the time to scrap. All this week I have been working from early morning till late evening to get my gardens back into shape. At this I have succeeded but at scrapping I have not.

We all need to challenge ourselves to scrap a few minutes at least every other day. If you have the luxury of having a scrap space leave that project you are working on out on the table to remind you to work on it. If you are not lucky enough to have this here is a tip: Pull the pictures you want for a layout. Decide what paper and what colors of embellishments you might want on your project or layout. Pull more than you will need and more than you will use. Put all of these into one of those 12 x 12 holders (either the kind to protect your layout or the idea holder kind), this way when you do get some time you are not digging for the things you might want on your page they are all right there at your finger tips.

Hope this little tip helps. If you have any others leave them in the comment section and help others out. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Don't forget to check out the store. There is new stuff in and the 30% off your entire order ends Sunday the 26th!

My Little Shoebox

Click on the title of this post and check out a company called My Little Shoebox. My sales rep's company just picked them up and I'm loving the little Treasure Compact that they have. I'd love ya'll opinion on them. They would retail for around $6.25. It's a compact filled with about 70 embellishments. I like this compact because it include about 4 different kinds of embellishments. Please leave me some feed back on what you think and if you'd be interested in buying them.

Thanks

Overwhelmed

WOW! I started a blog the other day and I still haven't been able to take the pic I wanted to post with it. Man. Currently I'm helping out a friend who was a little short handed at work. I get a decent paycheck and I get to sit and take pictures. What a job. If I could just do that 40 hours a week. LOL Anyway I just wanted to say hello. Hopefully some of my girls will post something for ya'll to get some inspiration from. I hope this weekend to find a little time to scrap. I got my pictures printed and sorted ready for me to get time.

Have a great week!

Some of my Work

I am by no means a great scrapbooker. But I thought you might like to see some of my work. It's nice to know your store owner actually does what she loves and sells. Many of these will not contain product that I have in my store. These are pages I did back in December 2007 and January of 08 for my 2007 year. I don't do a lot of special albums. I love to scrap what we do everyday. I did find however in doing this that I had huge books and I got burned out. So I decided to try and scrap no more than a two page layout for each event, with a summary page at the end of the month for single pics of an event or just something silly the kids did. Hope you enjoy.

I got injured by my dog. He stopped and I went over the handle bars. Anyway this is the layout I came up with for it. Layering was my theme. I layered paper and flowers.

One page of this layout was bought at a scrapbooking store that was going out of business. I liked the idea of the squares so I dug through my left overs and found papers to match to the best of my ability and copied it for the second page of this. It is about our super bowl activities.

This was a challenge in one of my scrapbooking groups. I don't normally do one picture layouts but this is for my daughters photo book. For me that means all there studio shots. I do a book for each of my kids with these in them. They are usually one picture layouts. This is paper from K & Company. They came out with a girl set and a boy set and I bought a set for each of my three children.

This page came from an idea book by Lisa Bearnson. I took two different one page layouts and put them together. I used an 8 x 10 of my friends yard on the left side of the layout. Her yard is just beautiful in the spring and to use a small picture would have just been an injustice. I again cut and pasted the pictures on the other side to give that panoramic look. This gave me the ability to get a picture of every person that was at the egg hunt that day. Also I painted the title egg hunt with acrylic paint.

This page came from an idea book by Lisa Bearnson. I loved how many pictures she used and I had a ton. So to keep my two page layout minimum I cut and layed the pictures together like they were one big panoramic picture. I also inserted some pictures into the pocket and made and interactive fold out on the right side of the layout. There I was able to put seven pictures. I will go back and cover the back of each picture and add some journaling. I think I was able to get around 20 to 25 pictures on this two page layout! Beats just one doesn't it? This was about all the baby sitting I had been doing for the month of February and March. One day I had around 7 kids!

These pages were done with a kit I got in a swap. It is american craft paper and heidi swapp paint. I also used Heidi Swapp's ghost letters. I've really gotten into layouts with enlarged pictures. This has a 5x7 on the left side of the layout.

Jolie Chocolat & Wanted Layouts

Don't pass out I made time for scrapbooking today!  I cleaned off my desk today and the pictures that were printed for me to scrap were the Rodeo I took my kids to February of last year (I'm even more behind than that).  The first thing I thought of was Cosmo Cricket's Wanted line and Creative Imagination's Cowgirl/Cowboy line.  After looking at them both I'm going to save the Creative Imagination one for riding a horse in Texas.  Ok so I used Doc Holiday, Slue Foot Sue, Strip Tease, Calamity Jane, Journaling Cards, & Stickers.  Again all from the Wanted Line by Cosmo Cricket.  Click the title to this blog to go to the store to look (still can't make links sorry)
Now this second layout is what I do at the end of each month, I take all the extra/misc pic and do a summary.  When I started this year I decided to scrap no more than a two page layout of each event.  So far that is what I have stuck to.  Ok for this I decided to use the Jolie Chocolat.  We don't do a whole lot on valentines so I wanted to show the other things you can do with this paper.  I used the Papillio and Nougat paper, I added a Hambly overlay, Jolie Chocoat buttons and rub-ons.  Hope you enjoy.

Crazy Prima Order

Wow has it been crazy.  While my husband and I were gone my Prima order was delivered my UPS.  For some reason Prima required a signature.  So UPS tried three times to deliver this package.  It was the three days that my husband was gone.  He talked with our UPS man and was told a postcard would come in the mail so he did nothing (and it never came).
When I got home I saw all the stickies and called the number on them.  I talked with a sweet woman that told me my package was being sent back to the sender because no one had responded.  I told her that I was out of town and so was my husband and she said "Let me call you right back.  I want to see if I can get them to hold it."  She called me back and they were able to catch it.  I had to give a different address though since it had already been taken to mine 3 times.  So I gave my parents address.  I went to there house to day to do laundry (remember my broken washing machine) and it never came.  I was getting worried that it hadn't been kept and was gone, but it did finally come.  My Mom called around 6:30 and I was able to drive back out there and get my package.
It was my paper and flowers.  I'm excited.  Don't forget to look at the earlier post where I put pictures of the album I was able to make in the Prima Class at CHA.  I hope that the acrylic albums will be in soon but until then check out the new stuff.

Home at Last

Well I have finally set foot through my door.  I'm sitting on my couch using my internet!  I can't believe it.  The last few days have been pretty empty just driving.  I hope that in an hour or so that I will feel like inputting the Hambly Overlays on line, the Chocolate Bunnies from Rusty Pickle, and the key chains from Maya Road.  I will also be getting a package from Prima tomorrow.  For some reason they had it marked as having to have a signature and it was delivered the three days that my husband was with us in Arizona.  I did manage to call them and catch it before they sent it back.  They have to send it to my parents house so while I'm there doing laundry tomorrow I should get it and have it up online tomorrow night.

Oh I didn't tell you - The washing machine crapped out while I was gone!  Wouldn't you know.  Come home with a ton of dirty laundry with no way to wash it.

Well check the site soon for the new stuff.

Hambly & Rusty Pickle

As you know my husband has only been on some of our trip.  So I asked him just last night what boxes have come in and I have a box from Hambly and a box from Rusty Pickle.  I can't wait to get home to get them loaded up on the web site!  I should be home in about three days!  I can't wait to be overwhelmed with work!

UPDATE!  The way home has been less eventful.  I-10 has less to do.  We did get some photo's by the large cactus and went to tombstone Arizona and then the next day we went to the Elpaso Zoo.  yesterday I don't think we did anything.  Today I got to ride a horse in Texas after 17 years.  We will see what the next few days include.

Grand Canyon

Well I made it to and am finished with the Grand Canyon.  If you've never been be sure that sometime in your life you go.  you've never seen magnificent until you've been here.  I think you could stay there for a month and visit year after year and it would never get old.
On the way to the Canyon we went through the Painted Dessert and the Petrified Forest that was pretty cool but what we found on accident was "The Corner of Windslow Arizona" OMG was that cool.  I can't wait to scrap that.  I will be using the Eagles Song, my Maya Road Rage Chipboard, Zoe Click paper and so much more!
Well the way home is much more boring so I will be able to update maybe!

Distressing technique

I'm loving bright colors right now so I wanted to share a silly layout I did for the most recent Scrap Mojo challenge. I distressed the edges of the Fancy Pants paper with staz on ink and then used a making memories edge distresser. I doodled around the papers and stamped the date a few times too. You can find the Love Elsie papers in the store. Links below.

I haven't forgotten you!

First I want to say a BIG THANKS to you girls for helping me out.  Those are beautiful layouts and some great tips!  Thanks again girls.

I haven't forgotten about you guys.  I will have updates soon.  I made it to the Grand Canyon Monday the 31st.  I found out we had no internet access unless I wanted to pay out the butt.  This is the first time I've had access to a computer.  Now that we are East bound my Dad is driving till later.  I think he'll drive me crazy at this point of the trip.

I hope to post pics soon  we shall see.

New Queen and Co Felt

I just finished this Layout using the new Burgundy Asia Felt from Queen and Co. Wow!! The results are fantastic. A little tip, When using a large piece like this peel the backing off as you go or it can become easily stuck to the other pieces.

Heidi Swapp Strawberry Lemonade

Happy April 1st! Hope everyone gets some spring weather today. Here is an example of the digital layout that was created using Heidi Swapp's Carefree Strawberry lemonade paper. I added some small accents to personalize it and make it mine. First I outlined some of the flourishes in stickles and then I stitched with embroidery floss along the photo. I'm so excited to check out more of Heidi's papers! You can find them at the store here.

Materials used:
Heidi Swapp Carefree Strawberry Lemonade Dots paper
Pink sharpie marker
Heidi Swapp bling
Glaze pen
Crystal Stickles
embroidery floss
pop dots
staples
Jet black Staz on ink

Scrapbooking Recipes

With the holidays coming so fast we need more hours in our day. One way I've found to help is quick and easy meals. Here is one that I love to use when I have a full day.

Lazy Log Cabin Casserole:

1lb stew meat cubed
1 can of Cream of Celery
1 can of Cram of Mushroom
1 packet of Beef Onion Soup (I don't use this. I just add salt, pepper, garlic powder and dried minced onions but I'm an eye ball cook)
Toss all this in the crock pot together give it a stir put it on low and cook it for 6 - 8 hours. Home cooked meal with just a few moments prep. Put a salad bag with it and your hubby can't be upset that there isn't a home cooked meal on the table.
