March DT Challenge

Hi everyone :) its my turn to host the monthly contest here at Everything Scrappn....

I am so excited to see Spring ring forth. I can't wait for sunny days, flowers, and gentle spring rains. This month's challenge is all about the coming Spring. You can create a layout or an altered piece.

First, I want to see flowers, at least 3, but not plain or simple flowers. You can either create your own flowers (from fabric, paper, felt, etc. whatever you wish) or if you chose to use a Prima type flower, you need to alter it somehow to make it uniquely yours.

Second, I want to see the color blue on your project. Something blue that will remind us of Spring rains that nourish the soil.

Last, you will need something yellow or gold to represent the warm Spring sunshine on your project.

I can't wait to see what you create and hopefully Spring will join us all soon!"

Many of the Design Team Members will be showcasing Webster's Pages products in their sample creations for the March 28th contest. You can view the stock of Webster's Pages that Everything Scrappn' has to offer by clicking here. Participate in the challenge for a chance to win a Prima Artistry Flowers Mini Tin. This tin is filled with around 25 Prima flowers in different sizes.

Here's my example for you called "flower child" I made two rolled paper flowers and I altered two white prima flowers with stamps, stazon and glimmer mist.
For my 2nd project this month I created easter baskets out of the Basic Grey Nook & Pantry line. I also used a few of the "woolies" flowers from the line

Don't forget to "hop" around to all of the DT blogs

Thanks so much for stopping by, and don't forget to link up your work here in the comments by midnight Sunday, April 11th for your chance to win the flowers :)

Spotlight on Pink Paislee and Rusty Pickle

Pink Paislee's Amber Road

This is one of my all time absolute favorite lines of scrapbooking papers. You can get all of it in the store, just click on the shop by line and choose Amber Road or just click the link.

I found this metal sign and it was screaming at me to alter it, as soon as I saw this new paper line from Pink Paislee I knew I would use it to alter this sign. I have a container of all white Prima flowers, perfect for using Glimmer Mist on them, so I colored 6 flowers, let me know what you think.

Products used: Pink Paislee Amber Road - Apple Cider, Autumn Blossom, Bonfire, Harvest Hayride, Bella Brads, Borderline Stickers, & Punchouts, Prima Lace, Prima flowers, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist - Marshmallow, Caramel Apple, Burnt Red, & Olive Vine.

Rusty Pickle's Panama Jack

I wanted to make a quick card for someone going on an island trip. This Panama Jack line was perfect for such a card. It's a multi fold card, looks more difficult than it actually is, and I've made several of these cards this weekend. It's called a Tri-Shutter Card, please click the link for the tutorial.

Heather's CHA version

Well I guess it's my turn to give you the down low.

I'm going to start by saying WOW! This was my first summer CHA and I loved it. I was actually able to take part in a few make & takes and I didn't feel as overwhelmed as I usually do. Part of that was all the great input from you guys. All the comments you left made it so easy to have a game plan (a good game plan).

As Suz told you I knew that Pink Paislee had to be our first stop. I mean you can't turn down getting a pink strip in your hair! They were also offering a goody bag to the first 150 orders. What does that mean for you? You could win the contents of the goodie bag. So be on the look out for a Pink Paislee contest.

Here is one of the make n takes I was able to do with Pink Paislee. If I'm able to find all the pieces this will be offered as an internet class.

Lets see next we looked around at several booths and made lots of decisions on what had good price points and what you the customer was looking for. This brought us to a company who will be new to Everything Scrapp'n - Zva. They offer crystals and pearls in strips and swirls for a GREAT!!! price. You will be able to get 40+ crystals for less than $3.00 (If I remember correctly - Don't have my price sheet yet). I was also told by the DT that pop dots are getting hard to find. Well I made it a little easier for you. I will be carrying their pop dots. They have a great price too. (I Did NOT order the Brads)

Little Yellow Bicycle was a must. Their fall line is to die for. I got to make a layout with their product. I will show you that later when the product comes in. That way you'll be able to download the instructions and purchase all the materials. It will ship on or around the 18th of Aug! The picture below is one of the papers that will be in the layout.

Oh exciting news for some - I now carry Basic Grey. I purchased their Nook & Pantry and the Indian Summer, several of their lace papers that will go with other lines by other companies. Their bling is on it's way as well as some of their unique embellishments.

Wow I feel like I'm overwhelming you : ) Ok Webster's Pages. They just rock! The internet didn't do them justice. I've had so many of you email me and say you would like to see me carry their papers. The time has finally come that this will happen. I'm excited because their paper is just so unique, I've never seen bright vintage. I love it! They have also come out with some embellishments that are crocheted -AWESOME (if you turn your head sideways and look at the bottom of the pic you'll see these - sorry couldn't make the edited one come over) The second picture is a great card from one of the new lines.

Ok Lastly Graphics 45. No this is not the last company I bought from this is just the last one I"ll talk about today. Graphics out did themselves this time with Domestic Goddess. Another vintage that is bright. Don't get stuck thinking you have to be a homemaker type to use these. They would be great for your grandmother tributes, projects of all sorts and be sure to check out the two layouts below.

Ok I will leave you with all the above to think about. There is so much more that was ordered and several thing to be ordered still. Be on the look out for all the awesome goodies.

I love this line from Sassafras & I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new glimmer screens from Tattered Angels! Glimmer Mist is one of my favs right now, I am using it on every project!!! Using glimmer mist with glimmer screens is REALLY easy and makes really beautiful designs!

Here is what I have been doing:

Maya Road Mini Album "US"
I made this album about my brother and I when we were toddlers :)

One if the pages inside the album

*******

"love you..."
picture of my mom, my brother and me.
I love this bird glimmer screen by Tattered Angels sooooo much,
I kept the page
simple so that the bird would be a feature on the page.

"Read"
Also featuring the Sassafras Woodland Whimsy paper line.
This is a picture of my mom reading a book to me when I was little.
This paper line reminds me of my childhood, so I have been scrapping

I am so excited about Prima's Rebellious line by Adrienne Looman. It really allowed me to go crazy with cute product. Adrienne's style really rubbed off on me and I definitely love the outcome. This page is a little more layered and chaotic than my comfort zone, but I really enjoyed stepping out and creating something different. The photo is of my friends at my Graduation party from May 2007.

New Stuffy Stuff

I LOVE getting new stuff in. Creative Imaginations has sent in the Holey Dot papers

I have to admit that while standing in the Creative Imaginations booth I got a little selfish and ordered some Cactus & Grand Canyon paper. See this time last year I had just gotten back from a cross country trip with my family to the Grand Canyon. So if you've been that way check out the vacation section.

Also Prima sent their Rebellious papers. I love the color mixture on these.

Oh and Hambly sent some product, Overlays, Papers & Rub-ons.

CHA Summer 08

I met with my sales rep the other day and I started placing my orders. I'm not sure I can list them all but I thought I'd give a little sneak of what would be coming into the store.

Lets start with Pink Paisley - I love the Vintage Moon. It was brought out as a Halloween line but as I see it you can use it for ANYTHING. The owl is just a great accent!

My rep had a company that focused on ribbon. I've been feeling like the store needed ribbon by the yard, so I took care of that. I have a ton of ribbon coming in. It will be great to have for kits too!

Creative Imaginations - This company has gone GREEN! They print all their stuff on recycled paper with soy ink. Now on to what I ordered. They have a great new boy paper with tanks and army men. There is also a new school line that is great for elementary school age and I also got in on the Dino Rock line. Another cute line for boys but they didn't leave out girls. Sorry I have no images for the Dino Rock or for the Soldier Boy. This picture is a sample of one of the papers and the rub-on pack. The rub-on pack is great. You are getting 4 sheets that is a good number not to many and plenty of options

Creative Imaginations Note - If you like the Marah Johnson girly line let me know and I will order it if there is enough response. I feel like it looked very much like her Rock Star Line and Love Struck Line. The only difference is that it is in lighter colors.

Sassafrass - This company was just picked up by my rep and they have some of the cutest stuff. To see other images check out www.sassafraslass.com

KI Memories - Love Elsie didn't have any new stuff for summer so from KI I just got some of there new lace papers. They have added glitter to some and they also have some velum paper with designs that I've ordered.

Prima - I know I know MORE FLOWERS you may ask, but I didn't order many flowers at all from them. There Halloween line was cute and they had these pebbles that rock if your are into the vintage stuff on your pages.

Autumn Leaves - Urban Junque - I think this was my one impulse buy. There is always one I buy because I love it. Now that I look at it I'm just not so sure! I hope ya'll like it too.

Little Yellow Bicycle by C-thru Ruler - I ordered their Christmas line.

Queen & CO. - This is a sad note. I was unable to meet my minimum with them so I'm not sure that I will be receiving any of their summer release items.

I hope that you find things that you like that will be coming into the store. I have not finished my ordering process so if there are things you would like to see please add a comment or send me an email request@everythingscrappn.com I would love to bring stuff in I can meet the minimum order if it is a new company!

Something to do with Maya Road Chipboard Keychains

This pacifier was made by painting the nipple and the handle and paper was cut to fit the middle. The paint on the nipple was Making Memories Apricot with a dot of orange and blue added in. The handle was just white acrylic paint after it dried I applied a couple of layers of Blushing Rose glimmer mist. I then tied three pieces of ribbon to the handle to give it a little extra. I don't remember the name of the paper I put in the middle, sorry. All the paper on the keychain is scrap.

For this safety pin I dug through my scraps. I was pretty sure that I had bought a shiny silver paper ages ago and I thought I had a little bit left and sure enough I found it. (My theory is to keep any paper that is at least 1". You would be surprised at what you can do with it if you just go back through your scraps.) In looking for the silver I found a nice patterned paper that had pinks on it. I traced the shapes and then cut and glued them on. Pretty simple and straight forward there.

This bottle nipple was used with the same paint that was used on the pacifier. The middle was painted white and then I traced it with Stickles crystal. I also gave it up and down stripes to give it the dimension of a real bottle. The bottom of the bottle I painted with Tim Holtz crackle paint worn lipstick.

Sorry that the picture is bad. I couldn't get a good one. The picture of the whole keychain gives a better look at the colors. This teddy bear was fun. I wanted to give it the patchwork or quilted look. You could easily take several papers and paste them on and add black out line and stitch with a pen. Anyway back to what I did. I had some left over quilted paper and traced out the teddy bear. I added half of a prima flower and a jewel to one ear.

Ok it's been a while since I've had the time to sit down and scrap. What's new right? I finally decided if I didn't start work on my friends baby album, the baby would be here and the point of the album would be mute. I want it to be an album the parents can put some of those first day pictures in. I'm going to use the Rusty Pickle Slim Jim album to make it. On the spiral binding I'm adding the above Maya Roads Baby chipboard keychain. I may also add some ribbon but I thought this would be something different. Decorating this keychain was fun and easy.

Using those CHA goodies

Hi Everyone!! Heather asked me to help her out while she's out of town and well if you know me you know I can't wait...lol She's not even gone yet, but here I am posting away!!

I love using the stickles to outline things, as you can see I've used them on the prima sprites to give them some extra dimension. Also, I've outlined some of the stars on the KI Lace paper. Head on over to the store there are a lot of new items in stock that I'll be scooping up soon!

Have a Great Weekend!!

Kelly

Scrapbooking Recipes

With the holidays coming so fast we need more hours in our day. One way I've found to help is quick and easy meals. Here is one that I love to use when I have a full day.

Lazy Log Cabin Casserole:

1lb stew meat cubed
1 can of Cream of Celery
1 can of Cram of Mushroom
1 packet of Beef Onion Soup (I don't use this. I just add salt, pepper, garlic powder and dried minced onions but I'm an eye ball cook)
Toss all this in the crock pot together give it a stir put it on low and cook it for 6 - 8 hours. Home cooked meal with just a few moments prep. Put a salad bag with it and your hubby can't be upset that there isn't a home cooked meal on the table.

Do you have a quick recipe? email me hgturner@everythingscrappn.com
